A small, invite-only, manually moderated pilot — not a public launch.

Our Neighbourhood Library

A way for neighbours to notice, share, and receive what's already among them.

Every neighbour has something to contribute. Every neighbour has seasons of need. Resources multiply when community is trusted, relational, and spacious.

How it works

Slow on purpose, human all the way

Nothing is automated. A neighbour helps each offer and need find its place, at its own pace.

  1. You share. Let us know what you can offer, or what would help this season.
  2. A Kaki reads it. A neighbour makes sure it's a good fit and safe to share.
  3. It's listed, anonymised. Your offer or need appears without your identity or address.
  4. Both neighbours say yes. If there's interest, nothing is shared until both of you agree.
  5. A gentle check-in. We follow up lightly, and — only with your consent — keep what we learned.

Offer or need

The shared shelf holds more than things

Items Skills Time Food Toys Tools Decor Knowledge Introductions Practical help Space Hosting Stories Community resources Everyday wisdom

This isn't one-for-one trading — it's mutual, seasonal, and trust-based.

ONL Kakis

Neighbours who help the sharing move

Kakis aren't ambassadors, donors, or gatekeepers — just neighbours offering what they can, this season, so good things can move between people with dignity, consent, and trust.

Notice what's around you

Keep an eye out for offers and needs near you, and help them find each other.

Bring a skill

Design, tech, research, social work, admin, storytelling, translation, hosting, partnerships, or safety thinking.

Ideas we're holding for the future

Not yet — these are hopes we're holding, to grow into as the community does.

Neighbourhood Library Parties

One day, gatherings where neighbours bring items, skills, food, stories, tools, decor, introductions, and know-how to share in person.

Stories from ONL

One day, consent-based stories of resourcefulness, dignity, reciprocity, reduced waste, trust, and connection.

About

By Compassion Collectif SG

Our Neighbourhood Library is a Compassion Collectif SG idea — a small, relational way for a trusted local community to notice, share, and celebrate what's already among them.

ONL echoes the spirit of Singapore's wider "We First" direction toward mutual, community-rooted care. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or part of any government programme.

What ONL is not for

ONL is not for emergencies, crisis, or self-harm; not for medical, legal, or financial advice; not for counselling, therapy, or casework; not for money, loans, deposits, or fundraising; not for jobs, childcare, or requests involving minors. It does not handle these.

Every offer, need, and match is manually reviewed and consent-based. Listings are anonymised — no exact addresses, contact details, or sensitive personal information are shown, and there is no direct or anonymous contact between neighbours through this site.
